Someone once told me I was too pale to wear yellow. And somehow, that tiny comment stuck. For years, I obsessed over being tan enough to show my legs. I learned that “elegant” meant neutral colors, covered knees, and looking a certain way. But the truth is, it wasn’t really about yellow. Somewhere along the way, I started believing that other people’s opinions were more trustworthy than my own. I became a people pleaser. I worried about being liked and looked outside myself for reassurance that I was doing life “right.” And if I’m being really honest, there were years when I would wake up and immediately start wondering how I was going to make myself enjoy the day. That’s hard for me to admit. Because I wasn’t unhappy with my whole life. I just wasn’t fully in it. And I’ve realized that the cost of living that way is waaayy too high. So I’m practicing something different now: Choosing myself. Not in a “I don’t care what anyone thinks” kind of way. In a “I trust myself enough to listen” kind of way. Kelly green because it feels funky. Bright red shoes because they make me feel sexy and feminine. And yellow because today it feels like sunshine for my soul. And it’s the color of self- love. And this is why I believe authenticity takes real courage. It takes courage to be seen. To risk being misunderstood. To disappoint someone. To stop shrinking. To say, “Actually… I really like this.” And sometimes courage looks like something as simple as putting on the yellow. That’s what we’re creating with The You Reveal.
