For a long time, I wasn’t dressing for my authentic self. Financial security represented safety to me, and somewhere along the way, I started treating wealth like a currency for my worth. I wanted to look expensive. And yes, part of me believed looking like I belonged in that world might help me attract a wealthy man and create the financial safety I wanted. That’s vulnerable to admit. I was dressing for the life I thought would make me valuable: elegant, understated, pearls, polished. I wasn’t asking what I loved. I was asking what version of me the world might value most. Maybe you know your version too. Maybe you’ve dressed to look thinner. Younger. More successful. More appropriate. More “put together.” Somewhere underneath those shoulds, a little bit of YOU can get lost. I know some of me did. Which brings me to two bracelets. One cost $6,000. One cost $10 at a thrift store. I loved them both. Eventually, I sold the $6,000 bracelet and used the money for a transformative personal-development course. That choice represented something bigger: My currency was changing. I was choosing growth. Joy. Self-discovery. Myself. Less: What does this cost? What will they think? More: Do I love it? Does it feel like ME? Does it make me feel alive? And I STILL LOVE THE GOOD STUFF. 😂 Give me the pearls, fur, gold, gorgeous dress and fabulous hotel. Every. Single. Bit. I just appreciate them differently now. They’re beautiful things. They have nothing to do with my worth. Pearls one day. Ridiculous hat the next. Luxury. Thrift. $6,000. $10. The difference isn’t what I’m wearing. It’s who is doing the choosing. Me. And THAT is why I created The You Reveal. Not to make women more fashionable versions of who the world tells us to be, but to ask: How do I feel? Who am I today? What do I want to express? Because getting dressed can be a daily practice of self-trust—letting the woman on the inside show up on the outside.
