Apparently fur is seasonal… My soul was not consulted. 😂🐆 It’s 100 degrees outside, I’m carrying an enormous leopard faux-fur purse, and it is bringing me a completely unreasonable amount of joy. Of course I added a colorful silk scarf too because I was vibing with purple too 🙃🥰 This small decision about a purse is a pretty perfect example of what I mean by dressing from the inside out. We’re taught to ask: Does it match? Is it flattering? Is it in season? Is it age appropriate? Is it too much? What will people think? I’m practicing asking something else first: HOW DOES IT MAKE ME FEEL? Today? Playful. Funky. A little ridiculous. Happy. Like ME. And maybe that’s the greatest reason there is?! I’m not anti-fashion rules. I’m just increasingly interested in who gets to make them for me. So this weekend, consider this your permission slip to wear one thing simply because your soul vibes with it. The giant earrings. The red shoes. The thing that “doesn’t go.” The dress you’re supposedly too old for. The leopard fur purse when it’s 100 freaking degrees outside. 😂 Because maybe personal style isn’t about getting it right. Maybe it’s about having those little moments when you catch yourself in the mirror and think: Ohhhh. There I am.
